Bull SA and Honeywell Bull Inc have added new low-end 32-bit models to the DPS 6
Plus minicomputer line – announced worldwide according to Bull, and the French
company has also announced the Series 400 models, al-ready available in the US.
The truly new models are the DPS 6 Plus 210 and 220, both using the same prop
rietary CMOS CPU as the 400, 410 and 420. But they eliminate the
13.3Mbyte-per-second asynchronous Mega-bus of the larger models, replacing it
with a 10Mbyte-per-second synchronous bus. The 210 is designed for four to 10
users and can be upgraded to the 220, supp-orting up to 20 users. The 210, with
2Mb memory, ex pandable to 16Mb, six asynchronous communications ports,
peripheral controller, 37Mb disk, tape streamer and HVS 6 Plus operating system,
rated at 0.7 MIPS, is $17,130. A 1 MIPS 220 with 8Kb cache, additional disk
controller, 4Mb memory and disk and tape is $27,130. In France, Bull added the
401 uniprocessor, 423 tri-processor and 424 quad; the 402, 413 and 414 are
touted as servers.
