These disks contain WAMPUM, a dBASE III look-a- like which operates WITHOUT command (.PRG) files. It allows the user to utilize a relational database without first learning to write programs and at a very low cost (the author requests $25 if you find it useful). Complete documentation and two sample applications are on FOG-DOS.072. WAMPUM provides much of the functionality of dBASE III through a menu-driven format. Features include: * Creation and use of dBASE III-compatible data files. * Complete multi-user network support using any dBASE file. * Character, numeric, date, logical, and memo field types. * Creation & use of up to seven B-Tree indexes per data file * Add, edit, delete, and undelete records in any .DBF file. * Display, list, and print records from any .DBF file. * Ten data entry screen formats tailored to any .DBF file. * Creation & use of dBASE III-compatible reports and labels. * Creation and use of WAMPUM "mail merge" form letters. * Relation of second data base by key for any output format. * Full-featured copy utilities to import & export any data. * Creation of printer templates to support up to ten fonts. * Library of preformatted output forms with sort and select. * Library of edit-checks tailored to any .DBF file. * Library of macros tailored to any WAMPUM application. * Calculated fields using standard dBASE III expressions. * File and index packing to restore damaged data files. * Automated selections assist for complex Boolean searches. * Boolean searches of dBASE III-compatible memo fields. * Audit trail / transaction logging for multi-user tasks. * NetBIOS-compatible record & file locking network support. * Global search and replace of 10 data elements in one pass. * Manipulation of any 5 related data bases in form letters. * Index key retrieval for production of single form letter. * Automatic posting of LASTUSER information in data base. * PASSWORD protection system for networks environments. * Customized USER configurations for network environments. * Specification of particular fields for use in BROWSE mode. * Simplified file structure modification like dBASE III's. * Multi-drive support for storage of data files & indexes. * Optional forced field confirmation. * Enhanced documentation outlining many dBASE functions. WAMPUM may be used on any IBM PC or compatible computer running DOS version 2.0 or higher with a hard disk. According to the author, an 80286 is desirable but not essential. You MUST have at least 320K of memory after everything else is loaded for WAMPUM alone; 420K to add the REPORT and LABEL programs. The author suggests at least 512K for optimum use. WAMPUM will run on most color and monochrome displays. A hard disk is essential for all but the smallest data files. WAMPUM .EXE 284688 ver. 3.2B [WAMPUM 1 of 12] Ward's Automated Menu Package Using Microcomputers is a full- featured, menu-driven implementation of the dBASE III programming language.
