MEMORANDUM TO: Bill O'Brien FROM: Keith Corbett DATE: July 8, 1987 SUBJ: 3.0 Software Price Updates COPY: David Lee, Ron Genest, Gina Pallozzi, Caroline Rollins This memo is to document the decisions that were reached in staff meeting last week regarding software update pricing. We agreed that we would adjust the fee schedule LMI established during bankruptcy to 1) eliminate the charge to software maintenance contract customers and 2) charge the old contract price (essentially a media and materials charge) to T&M customers. This latter category applies to distributors as well, since they are generally not covered by a software contract. The new price schedule, adjusted accordingly, is as follows: 3.0 SOFTWARE UPGRADE PRICE LIST (Customers and Distributors not on Software Contracts) SOFTWARE/DOC KIT PART NUMBER PRICE ---------------- ----------- ----- 3.0 LISP (no Unix) 3137-0000 $ 250 3.0 LISP (Unix S/W) 3145-0000 $ 300 3.0 TCP/IP 3169-0000 $ 195 3.0 LASER1-PLUS DRIVER 3301-0000 $ 150 3.0 IRIS GRAPHICS 3283-0000 $ 195 3.0 VISTA GRAPHICS 3271-0000 $ 195 3.1 PATCH UPDATE 3327-0000 $ 195 These prices should be included in the standard GigaMos price list, with a thorough explanation of the circumstances under which they apply. A note about software support pricing: Formerly we were offering T&M customers two options: 1) a media-only charge (higher than the contract customer price), or 2) a more expensive option (on LISP only) that would include 60-day software (phone) support. The new price schedule is for MEDIA ONLY. If a T&M customer inquires about installation support, we could quote 60 days of software phone support; this would require a special agreement, and the charge could be pro-rated from the current standard software contract price for the software / system configuration. (In other words, just charge them for 2 months.) I would, however, much prefer that we encourage T&M customers interested in installation support to purchase the standard agreement; they can always cancel it with 90 days notice. KMC
